Councillors have voiced their concerns after the incident which happened on College Road on Wednesday near Oswestry leisure centre. Police today said they believed the weapon was a BB gun, normally used for bird hunting, and have appealed for witnesses.

It follows the shooting of 17 school children with a BB gun. The attack took place at Etching Hill Primary School in the town recently. The children, 15 boys and two girls aged between seven and 11, suffered minor injuries from plastic pellets fired into the playground by 'snipers' taking pot shots through a hedge.
