Sheila Fox was found at her home at Weston-Under-Lizard, near Shifnal, on Saturday after her brother, Roy Fox, called to see her but could not get into her house. An investigation has established there was a fire at the house, caused by Miss Fox's clothing catching alight on the open fire. It is not yet known whether Miss Fox died before or after the fire, which happened in the living room.

Residents living in the average home in Shrewsbury will have to find almost £60 a year extra to pay for their borough council services from April, if plans are approved tonight. Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council is meeting to set its council tax for the next financial year which, if approved, is set to rise by three per cent for the general fund section of the bill. This means bills for that portion will rise from £127.43 to £131.25 for the average Band D property while the town's portion of the council tax will be increased by 4.61 per cent from £31.26 to £32.70 for a similar property. An Irish actor who appeared in the hit BBC 1 series Ballykissangel has died at a Shropshire nursing home. Peter Caffrey died on Tuesday, aged 58. An Irish actor who appeared in the hit BBC 1 series Ballykissangel has died at a Shropshire nursing home. Peter Caffrey, pictured on the right, died on Tuesday, aged 58. He had been at Radbrook Nursing Home, in Shrewsbury, battling cancer. His sister Carol Witherow today paid tribute to her brother who she said had an "amazingly positive attitude to life". She said he would be best remembered for his role as Padraig in Ballykissangel, but would also be fondly remembered in Shrewsbury after his impromptu entertainment at the town's cathedral for famine relief in Sudan in 1999. Janet, of Bearwood, a Friedreich's ataxia sufferer, was told that having a baby could kill he and she and husband, Graham, were faced with an agonising decision – go ahead with the pregnancy and risk both lives or agree to a termination and sterilization. The traumatic situation made headlines all around the world in the 60s. Friedreich's ataxia is a progressive disease that damages the nervous system and Janet was told that her heart could not take the strain of giving birth. The Express & Star reported the story of the girl willing to risk her life for her baby and the story won the hearts of the nation. Malcolm Thomas, 58, was last seen by his family in Hemel Hempstead on May 20 and has not been in touch with them since.
