The scheme, which ensures disabled people can shop and spend time in Oswestry, made a loss of £6,000 in the last financial year and is facing another shortfall this financial year after funding from Oswestry Town Council was cut. Andrew Brown, from Oswestry Community Action, which runs the Shopmobility scheme, said despite extensive work to cut overheads he feared there might be no other choice but to scrap the service if extra funding was not found by autumn. A teenager from Telford with a rare genetic disorder has been given a huge boost to his mobility thanks to a special community fund set up by the Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman. Thirteen-year-old Oliver Franks, of Admaston, Telford, was born with campomelic dysplasia, which affects his bones and severely impairs his mobility. Staffordshire-based charity BDF Newlife approached Wolves Aid, the charity set up by chairman Steve Morgan for money towards a new mobility aid. A Telford widow said today her "lifeline" had been taken away after callous thieves broke into her garage and stole her mobility scooters. A Telford widow said today her "lifeline" had been taken away after callous thieves broke into her garage and stole her mobility scooters. Eva Tonks, 86, of Hadley Park Road, Leegomery, said the vehicles were the only way she was able to get out and about independently. The scooters were stored in her locked garage near her home but were found to be missing earlier this week. Telford police say the scooters were probably taken between November 25 and December 4.
