Motorist cut free after car crashes

A man in his 30s had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car after it left the road and smashed into a lamp post on a main road near Market Drayton.A man in his 30s had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car after it left the road and smashed into a lamp post on a main road near Market Drayton. The man, who was the only occupant of the car, has not been named by the emergency services. The motorist suffered a suspected serious head injury and was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital North Staffordshire. The accident happened on the A53 Newcastle Road, near Market Drayton, just after 3am today. The blue MG car ended up in a hedge after the crash on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border close to Tunstall Hall. Read more in the Shropshire Star
