The men, including 48-year-old Sergeant Gerard Bell, formerly of Brookside, Telford, were killed when a Nimrod spy plane crashed near Kandahar in September 2006. Local firms pedge on £5m plant

The developer behind plans for a new power station in Shropshire today said it would cost at least £5 million and could involve several local firms. Chris Day, of Oxfordshire-based CJ Day Associates, said up to 10 local businesses would be involved in building the power station in Bishop's Castle, which would provide energy for 2,500 households. THREE GCSE students were excluded from a south Shropshire school for three days and sent for drug education after they were spotted 'sniffing a white powder' during their lunch break, it has emerged. THREE GCSE students were excluded from a south Shropshire school for three days and sent for drug education after they were spotted 'sniffing a white powder' during their lunch break, it has emerged. The year 11 pupils at Bishop's Castle Community College went on a drug education programme after being found in possession of the powder by then headmaster Terry Hunt and members of the school's senior leadership team. Parents have been informed of the incident in the school's newsletter The Messenger and staff at the school have reiterated their zero tolerance to any use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal substances on school premises.
