The Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag say they have lost their home in wildfires in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

The pair, who married for the second time in 2009, documented the escalation of the blaze on their Snapchat stories, while Pratt posted videos of firefighters dropping water from aeroplanes on Instagram.

Pratt, 41, can be seen packing his things as the fire spreads and making “one last coffee before the house potentially burns down” in the posts.

In a later update, he said: “I’m watching our house burn down on the security cameras.”

Montag, who has also had a career as a singer, asked followers to “say some prayers for us” before the blaze reached her home, on Snapchat, and is later seen becoming emotional as she tells viewers the fires have reached it.

The 38-year-old said in a post shot in a supermarket: “So our house is on fire and we were able to get out in time, but I keep going over and over in my mind of the things I should’ve got, but we’re out safe and that is the most important thing, and Spencer is behind me.”

In a later post, she said while tearing up: “I’m so sad our house has gone.”

Montag said she had lost “everything we worked so hard for”, and added that “life is so crazy” as one of her two children tried to wipe away her tears.

The wildfires have seen the city declared as being in a state of emergency, after flames spread on Tuesday due to extreme weather conditions, with more than 30,000 people forced to evacuate their homes – while a second fast-moving wildfire broke out in nearby Altadena.

Other Hollywood stars including Mark Hamill, Mandy Moore and James Woods have also been forced to flee their homes.

It comes less than a month after residents in Malibu were evacuated from a wind-driven blaze dubbed the Franklin Fire, which saw more than 4,000 acres burn and stars including Dick Van Dyke, Cher and Jane Seymour forced to leave their homes.

Nicknamed “Speidi”, Pratt and Montag competed as a single contestant on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother on its 11th series in 2013, and returned to compete as a single entity on the 19th series in 2017, they finished as runner-up on both occasions.

They have also appeared on the US version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, while Montag appeared on MTV’s The Hills since its beginning in 2006, and Pratt joined a year later in 2007, with both lasting until its final season in 2010.

The reality series follows the everyday lives of several young women and men living in Los Angeles.
