The Traitors contestant with special power chooses to unveil murderer’s identity
Claudia Winkleman informed the contestants that the person with the most gold at the end of the day’s challenges would become a ‘seer’.
The Traitors contestant Francesca Rowan-Plowden has been granted a special power that she will use to unveil the identity of murderer Charlotte Berman.
During Thursday night’s episode presenter Claudia Winkleman informed the contestants that the person with the most gold at the end of the day’s challenges would become a “seer”.
Before the “seer” was revealed, Freddie Fraser was banished from the castle after the faithfuls, and traitor Charlotte, voted him out of the game.
In the morning the faithfuls discovered at breakfast that the traitors had attempted to murder Leanne Quigley.
In the episode prior Charlotte had decided to recruit Freddie as a traitor and convinced him that they should murder Leanne despite knowing she had a shield protecting her.
The only contestants who did not know that Leanne had a shield were Freddie and Alexander Dragonetti, meaning the faithfuls began to suspect the two.
The programme, which is based on a Dutch format called De Verraders, involves a secret selection of traitors, who go up against a larger group of faithfuls who are trying to identify and banish their killer counterparts.
In their penultimate mission the players were welcomed to the woods where they revisited some of the missions they had completed and were also faced with two new challenges.
Winkleman, 53, said: “This is by far the most important mission you have ever faced. Okay?
“Whoever banks the most gold individually will gain a power more valuable than we have ever seen. They will become the seer.
“The seer has the power to know one other player’s true identity.”
One of the challenges involved correctly guessing which scary looking clowns had gold in their ballons, while another mission saw them put gold into a cage.
After the challenges Winkleman welcomed the contestants to the roundtable and asked them to each say “I am a faithful” before beginning discussions.
Freddie slipped up by telling his fellow competitiors that banished traitor Minah Shannon had told him Leanne might have a shield “at the end of the night”, despite having left the game by that point.
Following his departure, Winkleman announced that Francesca had become the “seer” and took her to a chamber where she was tasked with chosing a player she would meet at a secret location who would reveal their identity to her only.
After it was revealed who she had chosen, Charlotte said to the cameras: “This is awful, terrifying, horrendous, this takes me into a space of playing against someone I really like.”
This year’s series features another twist as the finalists will no longer reveal whether they are a traitor or faithful after being voted out.
The Traitors final airs at 8.30pm on Friday on BBC One.
