The final of The Traitors series three will see faithful Francesca Rowan-Plowden unmask the identity of murderer Charlotte Berman ahead of the roundtable.

The hit psychological reality series returned to BBC One earlier in the month with host Claudia Winkleman welcoming 22 strangers into a Scottish castle where they compete to win a prize pot of up to £120,000.

The programme, which is based on a Dutch format called De Verraders, involves Winkleman, 53, selecting a small number of players to be the traitors, while the rest of the players are the faithfuls and are unaware of the identity of the traitors.

While trying to avoid being killed by the traitors or banished, the faithfuls must figure out who is a traitor and vote them out so they can take the prize money for themselves.

During Thursday night’s episode, Winkleman informed the remaining contestants that the person with the most gold at the end of the day’s challenges would become a “seer” who can chose to meet with one person one-on-one to find out their true identity.

Later in the episode Freddie Fraser was banished from the castle after the faithfuls, and traitor Charlotte, voted him out of the game.

Reflecting on his departure, Freddie said: “I actually feel alright.

“I always said coming into the competition, if I make the final 10, I’ve reached my goal.

“I was really chuffed that I got further than that and I think I did myself justice.

“The worst part is that I had to stand up there and say that I was a traitor, even though it had only been a day.”

This year’s series features another new twist as the finalists will no longer reveal whether they are a traitor or faithful after being voted out.

The show’s final will involve the contestants continually voting out their fellow competitors until they have decided that there are no traitors left at the table.

Series two of the show, which aired in January 2024, saw British Army engineer Harry Clark take home the whole £95,150 prize pot after he deceived disability model Mollie Pearce into thinking he was a fellow faithful when he was really a traitor.

The show has won a host of awards including at the Bafta TV Awards in 2023 for best reality and constructed factual.

The final of The Traitors series three airs on Friday at 8.30pm on BBC One and is also available on BBC iPlayer.
