The 34-year-old striker, who has joined from Norwich, has been a long-standing target of manager Paul Simpson.
"I'm delighted because Jamie has got a goal-scoring record as good as anyone playing in English football today," said Simpson.
Cureton has had spells with Bournemouth, Bristol Rovers, QPR, Swindon, Colchester and Barnsley during a career in which he has scored 204 times in 456 starts.
