Booth hits the road at double
Chester Road's Ian Booth has made his impression on the Shropshire bowls scene a lasting one.
Booth's last individual tournament before his move to Somerset due to work commitments saw him win the Pontesbury Open.
And it was a similar story in his doubles swansong as he teamed up with team-mate Andy Moss to collect the District Doubles title - and its £200 top prize - at the Whitchurch club.
Pontesbury's Emlyn Jones and Darryl Edwards stood in the duo's way in the final - but it was the Roaders who came out on top, storming to a 21-15 success in damp conditions.
Indeed, the stiffest challenge to the Booth and Moss success came in the quarter-finals where they were pushed all the way by Callum Wraight and Luke Jones before edging through 21-19.

Last eight - Tracy Harding & Adrian Smout beat P & T Chesters 21-11, Emlyn Jones & Darryl Edwards beat Pete Owens & Alan Molyneux 21-20, Ian Booth & Andy Moss beat Callum Wraight & Luke Jones 21-19, Derek Wright & Pete Bound beat Dave Chamberlain & Kevin Tillings 21-15
Last four - Jones & Edwards beat Harding & Smout 21-11, Booth & Moss beat Wright & Bound 21-6.
Final - Booth & Moss beat Jones & Edwards 21-15.

Wem and The Cunliffe, Wrexham had baptism of fires in the Ifton Winter League as both fell to defeats in their first ever appearance in the competition.
Wem were beaten 133-104 by Rossett while Cunliffe went down 122-110 to Llanfair PG.

The end of year Shropshire Ladies League and county squad prize presentaion meeting takes place at Greenfields Bowling Club at 7.30pm on Monday.
Prize-winners are asked to bring their trophies along so they can be officially presented on the night.
