Church Stretton pair Jonathan Gidney and John Kelly were beaten to a place in the last 16 by London duo Sarah Tyson and Nick Pakenham at the 20th hole.
Both pairs parred the two sudden death holes played this morning, but Tyson and Pakenham edged through as they had a shot on the second.
The Londoners had earlier holed an eight foot putt on the first extra hole to keep their hopes alive.
The third round tie was played yesterday but, with the match tied after 18 holes, the light was deemed too bad to continue - despite the Shropshire duo being keen to bring the match to a conclusion.
And the nervous wait went on this morning as snow in the south-east meant a delayed start to proceedings at Sunningdale until 11am.
Gidney and Kelly had already come through one sudden death tussle, defeating Royal Ashdown pair Peter Crowther and Martin Landsborough on the 19th in the second round yesterday morning.
The game looked up for Gidney and Kelly as they were two down with three to play, but they eventually won through before bowing out this morning.
