Murray, who has been tipped for a full England cap in the future, is hoping to hear good news after making recent progress in his recovery.

He said: "I don't want to get carried away but there has been a massive improvement in my shoulder.

"These are exciting times at the club and from talking to some of the lads over the last few days, like me they can't wait to come back in to training and get started next week."

The Molineux star was devastated to miss out on the chance to play in last season's play-offs and is hoping to see the side improve on those achievements.

He added: "We have lost some great characters in Carl Cort, Michael Oakes and Jackie McNamara. But new players will be coming in - we have already signed Matt Jarvis - so expectation levels are going to rise.

"It will be a difficult league as usual, but I think that we will be up there amongst the favourites.

" The fans were unbelievable last year and I'm positive they will be right behind us again.

"The squad is still young and relatively inexperienced and new players will be coming in so things have got to gel.

" But, hopefully, we are going to be in for a good season."
