Matt Jarvis of Wolverhampton WanderersMick McCarthy is ready to unleash Wolves flier Matt Jarvis for his first start of the season on Saturday after insisting: "He's ready to terrorise Championship defences".The summer signing is nearing full fitness after suffering a hip injury in the summer - and his sparkling form in the reserves makes him a strong contender for a first start of the season on Saturday.

With left wing predecessor Michael McIndoe in town with new club Bristol City, a full debut would set up a fascinating clash of Molineux wingers past and present.

"Matt Jarvis is getting to the point where he can be considered for a start," boss McCarthy revealed today.

"Jarvo did really well against Albion in the reserves. I think he set the second goal brilliantly - he really has got that pace which helps him take on players and getting it into the box. He's a real threat.

"I've been really pleased with him so far - he's going to be a really good player for us."

Jarvis played impressive first 90 minutes of the season against Albion reserves on Tuesday, setting up two goals and causing havoc for the hosts' defence.

That came after his second league appearance of the campaign as a second half substitute at Portman Road on Saturday.

He looked bright during his brief cameo - but with the game already running away from the Molineux men he had little chance to shine as an attacking force.

"Jarvo never really got a platform to play from on Saturday," McCarthy admitted.

"If it had stayed 1-0 for 15, 20 minutes they might have got nervy but we just didn't give ourselves that chance to get back in it. But I thought Jarvo did really well considering the circumstances."

If Jarvis does play it could set up Stephen Ward for a return to the forward line. He has been playing on the wing since the start of the season.
