Former Shrewsbury midfielder Edwards, however, insists the pair of away games hold no fear for Wolves, who revived their season with back-to-back wins away from Molineux.
And he reckons recapturing the spirit of their victories at Palace and Colchester - where Wolves married defensive strength with razor sharp finishing - can bring more success at Deepdale tonight.
"It's a difficult place to go and they're doing well - but our last two performances away from home have given us massive encouragement and we'll be going there full of confidence," Edwards said today.
"We've set up well in those games and we've benefited from getting much better starts, which we've got to do again tonight.
"We've tried to pride ourselves on not conceding early, it helped us hugely at Palace and Colchester.
"We went through that patch of losing early goals and that hurt us straight away - they had something to cling on to and it was always going to be an uphill struggle for us."
Boss Mick McCarthy may turn to the 4-5-1 formation again tonight, handing Edwards a more advanced role in support of red hot striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake - who has notched three in his last two games.
