The county saw their opening group match in the RLF North Midlands Championship against Greater Birmingham at Telford on Tuesday abandoned after 52 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch.

The competition's organising committee have now ruled that the game will be declared a 0-0 stalemate.

Shropshire led 8-3 at the time - but as the game was abandoned before 60 minutes the result will not stand and the match cannot be rearranged because of the lack of an available date before the final at Stourbridge on May 20.

But should it be impossible to decide the two finalists after the completion of the two remaining group matches, Shropshire will go through having been in the lead at the time of the abandonment and having scored the only try.

The next match in the competition will be at Moseley's Billesley Common ground on May 6 when Greater Birmingham entertain defending champions Worcestershire & Herefordshire.

The final group match is at Droitwich on May 13 where Worcestershire & Herefordshire play Shropshire.
