Call-up gift for Claire

Shropshire runner Claire Martin had a brilliant Christmas present – an international call to race in Spain.

The Telford Athletic Club star scorched to an impressive victory in the Telford Christmas 10k on Sunday.

It was was her third victory in Town Park race – and 24 hours later she got an early festive gift.

It was a phone call from Sue Lamb, England's cross-country team manager and winner of the Telford 10k in 1998, to select her for an international cross-country race in Spain in January.

It is the third time that the Aqueduct-based Martin has been selected to represent England at cross-country.
