Two of the most successful clubs in the recent history of the Hargrove Trophy will aim to become the 2009 champions when an intriguing final begins tomorrow.
Last year's winners Oswestry will have home advantage in the first leg (11.30am) as they take on a Hawkstone Park team bidding for a third success in six years.
For Hawkstone captain Nigel Chesters, it is the chance to cap a memorable six months by overseeing another major success after guiding Shropshire & Herefordshire to a first ever Midlands League title last year.
He is remaining tight-lipped over his selection plans but has confirmed he has a fully fit squad to select from.
"Any time you get to a final it is a big day and we are looking forward to it," said Chesters.
"It's a nice tournament to win and a competition that helps keeps your game in shape throughout the winter months.
"The scratch foursomes is one of the purest forms of golf you can play but we know it's going to be a really tough game.
"They are a strong side and won it last year. Hopefully playing at home second leg will be an advantage to us because we will know what we have to do in the second leg."
Oswestry are also in good spirits as they aim to become the first team to defend their title since Llanymynech in 1987 and 1988.
"It would be a fantastic achievement for us to win the competition in back-to-back years with virtually the same team," said skipper James Woodwood.
"We're looking forward to it but we recognise that we've got a tough test.
"Looking at their team they are stronger on a handicap basis but we've got a good squad of eight and there is excitement around the camp."
