Shropshire-born golf ace Ian Woosnam is to officially open a new £1 million golf clubhouse in the county.
He will perform the opening at Oswestry Golf Club on June 16.
Club secretary Peter Turner said everyone was delighted with the new clubhouse, which should be operational in a fortnight.
He said: "We don't know what time yet, but at some stage Ian Woosnam will be coming along to officially open the clubhouse.
"At the same time he will be opening a new short game practice area which has been part government funded through Sport England."
He said representatives from other golf clubs will be attending, along with county officials and the County Golf Partnership.
He added: "I think everyone is delighted. It has been completed on time and on budget. The new clubhouse gives us that added facility and there is a fantastic outlook over the course.
"It gives us a facility for up to 120 diners as and when we need it." Mr Turner said finishing tou- ches were being made to the building but they aim to have moved in to the clubhouse and have it fully operational from May 9.
The previous clubhouse had stood on the site for nearly 80 years but was too small and too costly.
Work began on the new clubhouse last September and the golf club has been operating as normal in temporary buildings.
Oswestry-born Mr Woosnam is an honorary member of the golf club.
