The leadership in the Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League again changed hands as Castlefields returned to the top with a 9-5, +19 victory at Sir John Bayley.

Having lost pole position following Chester Road's win in midweek, Fields edged their way back to the summit on aggregate as the two title rivals are now tied on 136 points.

Clay Flatley was a 21-8 victor in the success over the Bayley Boys, whose Norman Harvey was a 21-9 winner.

The big game of the night saw Chester Road seal an 8-6, +10 win over third placed St Georges, but that was not enough to stop them losing pole position - while they have also played one more game than Castlefields.

Paul Griffiths won 21-10 for the Roaders, with Mick Jones and Glyn Picknell replying, both with 21-14 victories.

Meole Brace went fourth after their 10-4, +19, victory over second bottom Childs Ercall, Craig Wilson getting the coppers for the hosts with a 21-14 win.

Ford, for whom Billy Tarrell won 21-7, overcame visiting Wem USC 8-6, +10, Shaun Nagle replying with a fine 21-4 win.

Newport swept aside third bottom Archibald Worthington 11-3, +21, with Martin France winning 21-9 for the hosts.

Stuart Rutter's 21-6 victory helped Wrockwardine Wood notch a 10-4, +37, home success over Ifton.
