Former boss Gary Peters believes Shrewsbury Town must appoint a manager with League Two know-how - even if it means overlooking the star names.
On the day his former assistant Leroy Rosenior ruled himself out of the running, Peters outlined what he believes to be the ideal profile for Paul Simpson's successor.
And the man who spent nearly three-and-a-half years at the Prostar Stadium helm, during which time he guided Shrewsbury to a play-off final, believes an understanding of the lower Leagues is imperative.
"I'm sure there will be some big names who fancy it but the most important thing for me is that whoever gets the job understands the division," said Peters.
"Unless you get something like this season when Notts County have had a massive budget, the teams in this division are fairly similar.
"It's quite a strong division and you don't get too many weak sides and easy games.
"You need a manager that can get a squad and team spirit together to graft for 46 really tough games.
"Rochdale have had that spirit this season and been very successful with it."
Peters believes there will be no shortage of applications for a post he holds in high regard.
"The Shrewsbury job is one of the best around," he added.
"You have got a great support base, a brand new ground with good facilities and a chairman (Roland Wycherley) that lets you get on with the job.
"If you lose your job at Shrewsbury, it's your own fault."
Rosenior was a popular figure during a brief spell as assistant to Peters, but has ruled out a return.
"I haven't had any contact with anyone and I'm not looking to get back into management at the moment," he said.
But there remains numerous applications and potential candidates for Shrewsbury's Board to sift through.
Paul Sturrock and Graham Turner remain heavily linked while Paul Ince could be a candidate.
Former Wolves defender Mark Venus has confirmed his interest after spells as assistant to Tony Mowbray at West Brom and Celtic,
Men with League Two experience who could be interested include ex- Stockport boss Jim Gannon and Alan Knill, who has been doing a strong job at Bury.
