Midfielder Liam Blakeman has raised the possibility of a future return to AFC Telford United, declaring: "I've left on good terms."
The 28-year-old, who was voted the supporters' player of the year last season, rejected the offer of a new contract to sign for former club Southport instead.
Blakeman insists he could not turn down the chance to step up a league and test himself at a higher level, but admits he will miss Telford.
"I'd love to come back one day and that is why I have left on good terms," said the Lancashire-based playmaker, who has just returned to the country from holiday.
"I've got a lot of respect for the chairman Lee Carter and he was fine about me going - he told me to go and enjoy it.
"It was a very hard decision for me and I kept changing my mind," he added.
"I've had a great time at Telford and it meant a great deal to me to be the supporters' player of the year. I think I've shown the fans what I can do.
Impressed
"But it came down to the chance of playing in a higher league and I couldn't turn that down."
Blakeman held talks with Telford manager Andy Sinton before making his decision, but revealed that he had been impressed with the new man at the helm.
"Andy Sinton said all the right things and seems to be doing all the right things as well," he declared.
"I really hope the club moves forward and does well with him in charge, I'll be looking out for their results."
Meanwhile, one man who is staying is fellow midfielder Phil Trainer - and he was due to put pen to paper on a one-year contract at training this evening.
And Sinton is also running the rule over 18-year-old Will Richards, who was released by Shrewsbury Town at the end of last season.
