Winger Lewis Neal has vowed to hit the heights for Shrewsbury Town as the return for pre-season training beckons.

Neal, who turns 29 next month, had an inconsistent first season at the Greenhous Meadow during which he managed 21 starts.

And he is hoping to hit the ground running when new manager Graham Turner gathers his squad for the start of pre-season on Thursday.

"I had some good performances last season but some which weren't so good," said the former Stoke and Carlisle man.

"The end of the season wasn't great for me so hopefully I can hit the ground running, have a good pre-season and start the campaign strongly.

Luck

"I know I've got more to show the fans and hopefully I will have better luck with injuries."

Neal is excited about the season ahead after a summer of change at Town.

"It's always exciting when a new manager comes in and this will be no different," he added. "Graham Turner has had a fantastic record so I'm really looking forward to getting started.

"There have been changes to the squad and more will probably follow.

"But the aim of everyone is going to be to be up there challenging for promotion and I'm sure we will have enough to do that."
