Exciting winger Greg Mills is eager to extend his stay with AFC Telford United, insisting: "I don't want to rot in the Derby reserves."

The 19-year-old, who has joined from the East Midlands club for an initial month, enjoyed a super debut - scoring in Saturday's 5-0 win over Hyde FC.

It was a fantastic start to the Blue Square Bet North campaign for the Bucks and Mills - who picked up two man of the match awards - would love to stick around.

"I'm happy at the club, I'm playing regularly," said the teenager, who had a spell on loan at Solihull last season.

"I don't want to go back to Derby and just sit in the reserves because our reserves only have one game every three weeks.

"I just want to play regularly. The set-up here is good, the manager's good and the boys are good so I'm very happy.

"The fanbase is fantastic," he added. "I wasn't expecting so many fans when I came here, I was expecting the 300 or so we had when I was at Solihull."

An own goal by Hyde skipper Michael Taylor, the former TNS man, had got Telford up and running.

Andy Brown made it two and Mills bagged the third before Northern Ireland international James Lawrie made it four and Steve Abbott added the fifth from the penalty spot.

Boss Andy Sinton was delighted to see the goals shared around, admitting it had been a dream start to his reign.

"When you've got the luxury of being able to take both Browny and Alex Meechan off and put Steve Abbott and James Lawrie on, it gives us something to look forward to," he said.

"But just as I was pleased with the five goals, I was pleased with Ryan Young (goalkeeper) and the back four.

"All we've done is to have a good start though — the lads have done great and that's the standard I'll judge them by now."
