As a defender I'm not really there to score so if I keep a clean sheet and come off the pitch knowing we've not conceded than we've done our job. Telford skipper Shane Killock has put the Bucks strong start to the season down to building from the back.

Centre half Killock is part of a defensive unit that has conceded just three goals in their opening eight games - the best record in Blue Square Bet North.

And Killock is quick to heap praise on the rest of the side for Telford's impressive defensive start to the season.

He said: "We take a lot of pride in our defensive record. As a defender I'm not really there to score so if I keep a clean sheet and come off the pitch knowing we've not conceded than we've done our job.

"I don't think it's such a surprise we've done well defensively, I think it's always been there. The gaffer's obviously brought in quality players to add to the squad and made some great additions.

"We always knew we could do well defensively but there's a fine line between knowing you can do it and doing it."

And Killock added his partnership with Liam Murray at the heart of the back four was progressing well.

"I really rate Liam as a player," Killock said.

"He's taller than me so he's better than me in the air and I think we complement each other well.

"Sometimes I'll take the shorter striker and tuck round. We're still learning each others game but it's going well.

"We're a very solid unit all round and we seem to have gelled well and seem to know each others game. Obviously I know Newts (Sean Newton) from last season but Will Salmon has come in this season and been superb.

"We're a young back four and were still learning all the time and we're going to keep listening to the coaches and try and improve even more.

"If we don't get beat then we're going to come away with one or three points each week and if we keep going through the season like that then we're going to be delighted.

"I'm sure we will lose at some point but until we do then we just want to keep going."
