Brilliant Burway brushed Hanwood aside to move within one game of a place in the Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League, writes CHRIS HUDSON.

The south Shropshire side cruised to a 74-shot victory in last night's pre play-off final, played out in front of a crowd of more than 200 at Donnington Wood.

And they will now face Bylet, the premier wooden spoonists this season, in tomorrow night's play-off on the premier green at Meole Brace (7pm).

Burway will be aiming to take the final step this time around, having lost to Childs Ercall last year.

The Tanners Shropshire League champions go into the game in high spirings after their stunning victory, winning nine of the 12 games against Wem League winners Hanwood.

Star man Wayne Rogers set the tone, making amends for his big defeat in last week's pre play-off semi-final with a 21-5 victory over Phil Price.

Burway led by 23 after the first four and were as good as through after extending the advantage to 48 in the middle. Victory was confirmed when Chris Dovey won 21-10 in the final four against Andy Roberts.

"It was absolutely superb," said skipper Duncan Pressley. "All the lads bowled exceptionally after Wayne had got us off to a flier. There were a lot of people there and the atmosphere was great."
