And boss Graham Turner has revealed providing extra cover in midfield was one of the key reasons for signing Manchester City's Andrew Tutte on loan shortly before the loan deadline.
"Craig could struggle a little bit for the Accrington game," said Turner.
"We have got a lot over games coming up going through Christmas and New Year and it is one area we didn't have an awful lot of cover.
"Andrew is a bright lad and a good passer of the ball who has had some experience of being out on loan at Rochdale earlier in the season."
Town's reserve team game against Macclesfield, scheduled to be held this afternoon at the Greenhous Meadow has been postponed due to snow and frost.
And Shrewsbury will be hoping they don't face another weekend of inactivity ahead of Saturday's trip to Accrington.
"We just have to prepare as if the game is going to be on," insisted boss Turner.
