Ginge Wills, Shropshire's most successful ever rugby coach, has parted company with Whitchurch.

Wills led Whitchurch to the National Leagues in his first spell in charge and went on to repeat the trick at Newport.

But he leaves Edgeley Park for the second time with the club lying sixth in Midlands One West.

He will now concentrate on his duties with Harper Adams, who are top of the British Universities Midlands League, as well as coaching the North Midlands under-20s.

"We've both agreed to part company," said Wills.

"They are a great club and I wish them all the best for the future."

Whitchurch president John Gregory added: "Ginge Wills is no longer involved in Whitchurch Rugby Club.

"We thank him for his service and wish him well in the future."

The north Shropshire club plan to make a temproary appointment to carry them through to the end of the season ahead of tomorrow's home clash with Statford-upon-Avon.

Wills had taken a number of his Harper Adams players to Whitchurch but they now look set to move to pastures new.

Robin Le Cocq, a regular this season for the Reds when other commitments have allowed, is set to move to Shrewsbury — who are coached by Wills' assistant at Harper Adams, Keith Fowles.
