Jermaine Johnson is first new face at Saints

Former Derby County trainee and Stafford Rangers defender Jermaine Johnson has become The New Saints' first summer signing.

The Welsh Premier side beat several clubs, including Scottish Premier League outfit Kilmarnock, to the signature of the 20-year-old London-born centre half who has agreed a two-year deal.

It seals his return to the full-time game after spending last season with Stafford which followed a three-month loan spell from Pride Park the year before.

He also turned down a move to AFC Telford United in March to assist Rangers' fight against relegation from Blue Square North, a mission which ultimately proved unsuccessful.
