Shropshire golfer Scott Drummond has missed the cut at the European Tour's flagship event.

Bu all the damage was done with an opening 76 a day earlier and his six-over-par total was two shots more than required to make the weekend.

There was better news for leading Shropshire amateur Oliver Farr.

The Ludlow ace fired a bogey-free two-under-par round of 70 on the opening day of the Scottish Amateur Championship at Blairgowrie.

That left him in a tie for 10th in the high-class amateur field and five shots off the lead with three rounds to play.

Farr believes he must win a major event to seal his place on the GB & I Walker Cup team to face America in the amateur Ryder Cup in September.
