Young Shropshire golf star Emily Price has booked her place in the US Kids Golf World Championship in August.

Emily, 11, who is a junior memeber at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club, qualified for the finals after finishing third in the US Kids European Championships, which was held at Gullane Golf Club near Edinburgh in Scotland during half-term.

More than 500 youngsters played over the Gullane links and Emily's under 11s group included players from Britain, France, Germany, Egypt, Switzerland, South Africa and the Czech Republic.

The young players had to battle winds of more than 20 mph all week and Emily shot rounds of 81, 76 and 81 to finish in third place, five shots off the winner.

Cleobury Mortimer's Dave Pain said: "Emily is a great talent and to return those scores over such a tough course as Gullane is remarkable."

The top five all qualified for the finals at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. This was Emily's third consecutive year in the US Kids European competition. She was second 2009 and sixth in 2010 .

The US Kids Golf World Championship, from August 4-6, is the largest and most prestigious event in the world for players from six to12 and under.
