Shropshire's cricketers were today attempting to force victory in their opening Minor Counties Championship clash of the season.

No play had been possible in the first two days against Wales at Pontarddulais due to rain and a soaked pitch –but a result could still be forced on the final day.

A one innings match was due to begin in glorious conditions this morning, with a maximum of 102 overs.

Under Minor Counties rules, the team batting first is able to bat for 60 per cent before having to declare.

Should either side force victory, they would be rewarded with 12 points with the losers four. A drawn match would see both teams bank eight points.
