Put in to bat Llani fought hard scoring 112 all out inr 41.2.

Marc Hughes and Adrian Foulkes both scored 20 at the top of the order but the hme side had no panswer to the spin of Tom Welti (5-39 from 14.2 overs) and Nick Bevan (3-12 from seven).

Wroxeter needed just 28 overs to get the runs for the loss of three wickets.

There was a second v third contest at Pecknall Farm and it was third placed Alberbury who inflicted Knockin & Kinnerley's first defeat of the season.

Put in the visitors soon lost early wickets to Neil Savage (2-22) and Ben Davies (2-12).

Dave Jones (43) and Bluey Thomas staged a brief recovery before Thomas was run out for 28.

Despite some stout resistance from Ben Wixey, 36 no Knockin were dismissed for 146 in the 40th over.

Such a target posed no threat to Alberbury as Mike Crawshaw (54) and Mark Jones (47 not out) guided them home in 25 overs for the loss of just two wickets.

Fourth placed Frankton missed the chance of making up ground on the leading pack when they slumped to a 113 run defeat at Pontesbury.

Graham Oakley was the eraly star for Pontesbury with 41 runs but they lost had still lost six wickets in getting to 100, two wickets apiece for Rich Parry-Jones and Ed Whyte.

That set the scene for Dan Simmonds and Tim Robinson, who pulverised the Frankton bowling.

Simmonds scored six 4's and three 6's in his 58, and Robinson six 4's in his 37 not out. Pontesbury closed on an impressive 231-8. The Frankton innings became a 'Robinson affair' as Tim took 3 for 17 and Andy 3 for 21. Frankton collapsed to 118 all out in 29 overs.

Cound took full advantage of Frankton's problems, moving back into fourth place by virtue of an 18-10 winning draw at Lilleshall. Cound posted 224-9 in 40 overs thanks to fine knocks by Farrell Younger-Waters (78) and Joe Yapp (72).

They rescued their team from a precarious 26-4, caused entirely by Steve Pedley's 4 -36, with a fifth wicket stand worth 125. Andy Harrison (4-2) and Alex Johnson (4-43) tore the Lilleshall innings to shreds – it contained five ducks.

However resistance came from Ben Waters (28), Simon Millington (67) and Will Askin (33), as the home team hung on at 159-9.

In mid-table, Forton were able to leapfrog over Montgomery after a 44 run home win.

Forton were inserted, and set a target of 187-6 in 40 overs, Adam Bushnell having anchored the innings with 63 not out.

Impressive

Monty's response was going well at 75-2 with Edward Davies (25), Aaron Ruff-Cock and Tim Davies (41) all getting runs.

However, the decisive spell of bowling came from Mat MacInnes, who took 5-32 from nine overs.

Matt Sayers took another three wickets, and Monty capitulated in the 38th over with the score on 143.

In the basement battle, Welshpool had an 18-3 winning draw against Condover at Maes-yr-Dre.

Opting to bat first, Pool reached an impressive 35 over total of 180-5, with Joe Birch scoring 62 and Phil Lewis 38, despite Jon Harris' 2-52.

Condover lost a wicket to the first ball and things did not improve much until they were 56 for 9.

That brought last wicket pair, Paddy Higham and Jon Mansell together. Between them they survived 58 deliveries, in taking the score to 93 for 9, with Higham finishing on 29 not out, and Mansell 17 not out.
