Wellington youngster Martin Delaney is the new face in the Shropshire squad for this weekend's Minor Counties Championship clash with Herefordshire at Bridgnorth, writes JAMES GARRISON.

Left arm paceman Delaney, 19, has been rewarded for some impressive Birmingham League premier division displays for Wellington over the last month with a place in the 12 for the three day game which starts on Sunday.

Home club interest is guaranteed with all rounder Jack Edwards and seamer Tom Weaver making their third and second Championship appearances respectively for the hosts, while Jono Whitney is also named in the side.

Injury and unavailability have hit Shropshire's plans, particularly in the seam bowling department.

Shropshire duo Mike Barnard and Dan Bowen remain absent through injuries while teacher Mark Downes and Shifnal's Jonty Mountford miss out due to work commitments.

Wicketkeeper Anthony Parker is another sidelined through work, Shrewsbury School commitments account for young opener Stephen Leach while Joe Leach and Alex Blofield are on Worcestershire duty.

"It's a great opportunity for the young lads to come in and test themselves," said captain Ed Foster.

Vice captain and gloveman Matt Tilt, and Richard Oliver, both earn recalls.

The full squad is: Ed Foster (captain, Shrewsbury), Jono Whitney (Bridgnorth), Chris Murtagh (Reigate), Rob Foster (Shrewsbury), James Ralph (Kidderminster), Richard Oliver (Whitchurch), Andy Gray (Alvaston & Boulton), Matt Tilt (Wellington), Jack Edwards, Tom Weaver (both Bridgnorth), Elliot Green (Shrewsbury), Martin Delaney (Wellington).
