Former West Indies Test star Jimmy Adams returned to Shropshire to pay tribute to a county cricketing stalwart, writes JAMES GARRISON.
Adams, who was overseas professional for Wroxeter in 2001, was back at their Uppington ground on Sunday to play in a special tribute match to former president Brian Everall.
He made 30 in a drawn match as the current Wroxeter team took on a Brian Everall XI featuring a host of past club stars.
"It was brilliant of Jimmy to turn up," said current Wroxeter skipper Nick Bevan.
"It had been spoken about before and then we rang him on Saturday night and he said he would be delighted to play.
"He looked like a former Test player in his innings and was was brilliant with the people there watching.
"He signed for every autograph request, did every picture and gave advice and spoke to anybody who came to him."
