Ashley Chesters has become the first Shropshire golfer to break into the full England golf squad for 20 years.

The Hawkstone Park 22-year-old is in the squad of nine named by the English Golf Union after a successful year saw him reach the last 16 of the British Amateur Championbship, finish third in the Czech Amateur and win the prestigious Lee Westwood Trophy.

Michael Welch was the last Shropshire player to break into the England squad in 1991 and Chesters feared his chance had passed.
