Market Drayton Town have appointed former Sheffield Wednesday star and ex-Blackpool, Burnley and Walsall boss Jimmy Mullen as caretaker manager.
He replaces Neil Woolliscroft and his assistant Darren Williams, who resigned on Saturday after Drayton's 7-1 home Evo-Stik League South defeat by Loughborough Dynamo.
Mullen, who brieflly managed Drayton and also the old Telford United, is due to meet his new squad this evening and takes charge for Town's tough league derby clash with Kidsgrove Athletic at Greenfields tomorrow evening.
The much-travelled Mullen lives locally and Town chairman Julian Parton today described his appointment as an excellent development for the club.
"We are extremely delighted to have him on board," he said.
"He does not want the job long term but has agreed to help stabalise things so we can sit down and take time to consider our best other options.
"Clearly we are in trouble at the bottom of the table. Putting that right is a very big task but Jimmy has a very big reservoir of experience to call upon."
Mullen has kept in touch with Town throughout his travels and often dropped in on their home games.
He was among the sparse crowd of just 75 for Saturday's match along with another Drayton based former Football League star, Andy Cooke.
They were together at Burnley, where Mullen gave Cooke his chance to break into the first team, going on to score 51 goals in 171 appearances.
