Shropshire golfer Oliver Farr ended his first tournament as a professional on a high – with the best round of the day, writes James Garrison.

The 24-year-old from Ludlow fired a three-under-par 69 in the last round of the NGA Hooters Tour event at the Orange Tree club in Florida.

That helped Farr finish the three-round event on five-over-par and saw him climb from 27th to 13th on the final day.

The former Shropshire & Herefordshire first teamer and Welsh amateur international made the cut with nothing to spare after opening with rounds of 77 and 75, and earned 1,409 dollars from his first week in the paid ranks.
