England international Ashley Chesters is continuing a golden week for Shropshire golf.

Fresh from Ludlow's Oliver Farr finishing 13th on his professional debut in America, Hawkstone Park's Chesters is leading the field in a major international amateur event in Venezula.

On his first appearance since being named in the England squad, the 22-year-old is tied for the lead after two rounds of the Simon Bolivar Cup.

Chesters has fired rounds of 69 and 67 for a six-under-par total to share the lead with Spain's Alberto Fernandez and Robin Kind of Holland.

The former Shropshire & Herefordshire first teamer has made just one bogey in his first two rounds.
