Telford Tigers have signed Swedish import Henrik Sahlin from Bristol Pitbulls as they look to bolster their goalscoring record in the English Premier League.

Sahlin has scored 24 times in 57 appearances for Bristol in the English National League and arrives as Telford's fifth overseas player.

The 31-year-old has spent much of his career in the Norweigan and Swedish Leagues and was a team-mate of Tigers assistant coach Greg Blais during the 2008/09 season.

Blais said: "Henrik is a really top forward and is a gritty player. He can do pretty much any job and put the puck in the net as well.

"His size is very useful and he is not afraid to stick up for his team-mates.

"At this level, you never quite know what a guy can bring to a team, but he did well in Bergen, which is a similar level to the EPL, so there is no reason why he can't do well here."

The Swede has signed with Telford for the rest of the season and is hoping to make an impact in the push for an EPL play-off spot.

Sahlin said: "It was hard to find a job in Bristol so when I heard Greg was here, I decided to make the make, try out and take my chance.

"It is a big step up from the ENL, but it is very similar to the style of hockey I played back home in Sweden."
