Jonas Olsson today insisted he is happy at Albion and revealed he is still in talks over an extension to his contract.

The Sweden international requested an interview with local media after reports from his homeland last week hinted that contract talks were on hold.

The popular centre-back insisted he has not pulled the plug on contract talks and could still extend his current deal, which has 18 months to run.

"I have been here for four years and I have signed two contracts already. I have been speaking with Dan Ashworth (sporting director) and the club for a while about extending," he said.

"I can definitely see myself extending my contract but, like always when you're negotiating, there are bits and pieces that need to come together."

Doubts over the 28-year-old's future were triggered by quotes, translated from a Swedish interview, claiming he was eyeing a move to a club "that fights for titles."

But Olsson, who will line up at Newcastle in the Premier League tonight, said: "I don't really like it when people take an article from another language and try to translate it."
