It was the finale of a three-day soccer camp run at Prestfelde School by the goalkeeper's father Charlie.

More than 30 children aged five to 11 took part in coaching sessions, activities and swimming sessions organised by HD Sports World.

"We finished the school with a tournament watched by the parents before Joe dropped in to present the medals," said Charlie.

"We've been taking the camps to Bridgnorth and Telford as well and hopefully I can take them further afield in the future. We started off with the camps in Shrewsbury, but a lot of the kids came back to us during the summer so we've expanded them.

"There were 30 at the latest and Joe came along after training (with Manchester City) to do his thing. The kids were very excited and besieged him for autographs."

The Manchester City No.1, who captained his country for the first time in the World Cup qualifier against San Marino last month, grew up in Shrewsbury and played for his home-town club.

The Soccer School runs during the school holidays and sees groups of children from across Shropshire hone their skills with expert coaching, culminating in a mini tournament at the end of each camp.

Coaches focus on various aspects of the game including running and turning with the ball, dribbling, heading and shooting.

Dates will be announced soon on camps to be held next year.
