Dave Richards reinstated at Shawbury United
Dave Richards has been reinstated as manager at Shawbury United less than a month after he departed to manage Market Drayton Town.
Richards, who led Shawbury to a top-four finish and Shropshire Challenge Cup glory last season, was confirmed as Drayton boss in mid-June.
But it was announced on June 28 that he had left the club because of work commitments.
That left Shawbury with a dilemma as they had made Allscott boss Tom Ford their new manager.
But, such is Richards' popularity at Shawbury, a club he also served for many years as a player, their committee quickly reached agreement.
They would prefer him to carry on and try to build on what he achieved last season. Ford has since returned to Allscott.
Shawbury president Wayne Price said: "Dave approached us to see if he would be interested in having him back and for obvious reasons we said 'yes'.
"Dave's proven at this level and the committee were all in favour of having him back to carry on."
Price admitted he had sympathy for Ford, who had been been excited at the prospect of stepping up a number of levels from the Mercian League.
Price said: "I apologised to Tom and he was gutted when I rang to tell him."
