Shaun Ploughs a cup furrow

Shaun Hughes is dreaming today of FA Sunday Cup glory for pub team The Plough in Wellington – before he steps down as manager at the end of the season.

The Plough are Shropshire's only representatives in the first round and host The Royal Hotel, from Sutton, tomorrow at Wellington Amateurs' School Grove ground (2pm).

Hughes is hoping his side can have a good run in their debut challenge.

The Plough dominate the Telford Flooring Sunday League, won a 'double treble' of Premier Division title, league cup and county cup – and are unbeaten since November 2011.

Hughes said: "I wanted to go into this competition last year, but I didn't think we were ready. Some of the bigger Sunday sides have got budgets.

"Some current pros even have their own Sunday team. I believe Wayne Rooney has one that he has put £20,000 into. So if we could just make some decent progress in the competition, I would be more than happy."
