The youngster battled to a third-place finish at the WAKO Junior and Cadets European Championships, held in Poland.

And in doing so, Jamie cemented his place as one of kickboxing's leading lights internationally after winning bronze in the World Championships last year.

In the week-long European event that featured 1,600 fighters from 37 countries, Jamie excelled despite being one of the lightest contestants in the under-37kg category.

Jamie, who trains at Lee Matthews British Military Martial Arts in Telford, took up kickboxing six years ago.

His proud mother Jo said: "He'd train every night of the week if he had his way.

"As well as training at Lee Matthews three times a week, he also travels to Nottingham once a week to train with Great Britain coach Avinder Panesar."

She added: "Jamie was in a very tough category, especially being one of the lightest, giving away nearly 5kg.

Next year, the Bridgnorth Endowed School pupil's teenage dream will be to get his kicks with more medal joy when the World Championships take place in Italy.
