Shropshire swim pair clinch double gold ahead of Glasgow 2014
Shropshire swimming aces Chris Walker-Hebborn and Rachael Kelly warmed up for the Commonwealth Games by striking double gold in Manchester.
Walker-Hebborn, of Ellesmere College, and former Market Drayton Swimming Club member Kelly, will both represent England at Glasgow 2014 next month.
Both gave a superb showing at the British Gas International Swimming Meet at Manchester Aquatics Centre.
Walker-Hebborn doubled his tally of gold medals at the five-day event on Saturday by claiming the 50m backstroke title. He posted a time of 25.56sec to finish ahead of Guildford City's Marco Loughran in 25.90 and University of Stirling's Charlie Boldison, who came third in 26.00.
Walker-Hebborn had already claimed the100m backstroke gold.
In the 100m butterfly, British champion Kelly touched in 58.76, also taking her second gold of the competition after winning 50m butterfly gold. Silver went to Jemma Lowe with a time of 59.16 while Charlotte Atkinson took bronze in 1:00.32.
Kelly said: "I still need to do some work on my dive."
The Games get under way on July 23.
