Old head Todd is boosting Bucks
AFC Telford midfielder Mike Grogan says veteran Andy Todd's experience will be invaluable to the youthful Bucks this season.
Todd, a two-time Conference winner with Accrington Stanley and Mansfield, was initially brought in as a player-coach, predominantly with the emphasis on the latter.
But after the team made a poor start to the campaign, he has been handed an increasingly pivotal role in the Bucks' midfield in recent weeks.
Grogan said: "Toddy is an important part of the squad.
"He's not only a player but he does the coaching and training, he talks to all the lads.
Advice
"He encourages people, he is enthusiastic, he's got experience and he is always constantly giving advice to the younger players like myself.
"I have come from lower down the leagues. I haven't played this high up before and he is constantly talking to me and giving me advice. That is what you need. You need your older players and your more experienced players to do that, and Toddy has been absolutely superb so far."
Grogan added that Todd's form in his five appearances so far this campaign, has left a big impression on him.
He said: "Long may his form continue because he doing himself justice.
"At the start I think he was itching to get into the team, he was seeing us getting beat and now he has got in it he's doing brilliant."
Todd, who was rested for Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Forest Green, is still being used sparingly by manager Liam Watson.
But he was expected to return to the starting line-up for today's trip to Lincoln.
And he earned plenty of praise from Telford assistant boss Dominic Morley last weekend after grabbing his first goal of the campaign in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Kidderminster.
Todd rescued a point with a superb long-range finish 11 minutes from the end of normal time.
And Morley said the 35-year-old, who began his career at Nottingham Forest in 1996, is setting a fine example for others to follow.
He said; "It was a fantastic finish by Andy and that is what you get from him.
"He's (35) years of age and if some of the younger lads look at him and his attitude, endeavour and fitness then they won't go far wrong."
After today's trip to Lincoln, the Bucks hit the road again for the next Conference Premier fixture – away to Woking next Saturday.
