Shropshire's School athletes head north
The Shropshire Schools Athletics team head north tomorrow in search of medals in the English Schools Championships.
The 25-strong outfit make the long haul to Gateshead for the two-day event.
Leo Read (Wrekin College) will skipper the boys' team while Emily Ball (The Marches School) has the honour of leading the girls' side.
Shropshire, as a Group C county based on school population size, are only allowed a team of 25 from all age groups so there is always strong competition for places.
Included in the side are the brother and sister pairing of Jack and Katie Lambert from Cleobury Mortimer, who are both hammer throwers from Lacon Childe School.
Wrekin College have the biggest contingent with four athletes selected – Lucy Asson, Klara Albrink, Georgie Perris-Redding and Read.
Bridgnorth Endowed School have three junior boys in the team for the first time in many years with Keiran Clarke and Oliver Carvell in the 800m and Niall Price in the 100m.
Thomas Telford School also have three athletes included with Ellie Vernon in the junior girls' javelin, Jack Finn in the junior boys' 300m and Ellis Greatrex in the intermediate boys' 400m.

Intermediate Girls: Lucy Asson (Wrekin College) 100m, Hollie Williamson (Sundorne) 80m Hurdles, Francesca Scott (Corbet) 80m Hurdles , Klara Albrink (Wrekin College) Long Jump, Fran Garrott (Burton Borough) Javelin, Katie Lambert (Lacon Childe) Hammer.
Senior Girls: Georgie Perris-Redding (Wrekin College) 100m, Amy Bowen (New College) 200m, Danni Langdale (Adcote) Pole Vault, Emily Ball (Marches) Shot.
Junior Boys: Niall Price (Bridgnorth Endowed) 100m, Keiran Clarke (Bridgnorth Endowed) 800m, Oliver Carvell (Bridgnorth Endowed) 800m, Jack Finn (Thomas Telford) 300m , Jack Lambert (Lacon Childe) Hammer.
Intermediate Boys: Rio Mitcham (Idsall) 200m, Ellis Greatrex (Thomas Telford) 400m, Adrian Lloyd Davies (Idsall) 800m, Stanley Willis (William Brookes) 3000m, Krystof Danek (HLC) Long Jump.
Senior Boys: Leo Read (Wrekin College) 100m, Felix Tighe (Ellesmere College) SB 400m, Alex Burrows (William Brookes) 800m.
