The 25-year-old has been paired with Nuneaton professional Andy Sullivan, whom he played with several times on the amateur circuit.

Sullivan has since claimed two titles on the European Tour and Chesters said: "It has been a while since we saw each other but I think he will recognise me!

"It's always nice to play with someone you know."

American Harris English completes the group, who will tee off at 3.07pm in Thursday's opening round as the 144th championships get under way at St Andrews.

They will then head out at 10.06am in Friday's second round. Chesters is playing in his second Open and aiming to better last year.

He finished best amateur but missed out on the cut - and therefore the Silver Medal - by just one shot at Royal Hoylake.

After practising on part of the course yesterday, he was set to join up with England's Ross Fisher and Francesco Molinari, both former Ryder Cup players, for today's practice session.
