The Cricket Meadow men's first-team wrapped up the Birmingham League Division Two title in style on Saturday with an eighth-wicket home win against Tamworth.

Their achievement only added to an already-stunning campaign for the club which has seen the firsts, seconds and thirds promoted.

The third team also won the Shropshire League Division Five title while the seconds finished as runners-up in Reserve Division Two North.

Asked what has been the key to the club's success, Martin said: "Consistency.

"The new players that came in before the start of the season – Karl and Dale Quiney and Ian and Simon Gregory – were a boost as well.

"If you make the first team stronger then you make the seconds and thirds stronger as well. We have had a good mix of experience and youth in all of those teams and they have been captained well."

Martin added: "It has been a great season. we have won more than 50 games between the sides, several records have been broken.

"To get three teams promoted is unprecedented for the club since we joined the Birmingham League 13 years ago."

Bridgnorth's first-team had known that they needed to win to be sure of clinching the league title while defeat could have handed the title to Sutton Coldfield.

There was no hint of complacency as they made a rapid start, reducing Tamworth to 7-2.

A knock of 52 from Ben Maddox, 36 not out from Joe McNulty and 32 from Jake Flower improved matters for the visitors to 173-6 at the close of their innings.

After the early loss of Karl Quiney at 17, a stand of 108 between David Exall (84) and Ryan Lockley (51 not out).

An unbroken stand of 49 between Lockley and Ian Gregory (27 not out) saw Bridgnorth to victory.

Bridgnorth's first-team, have now enjoyed two successive promotions.

And Martin added that preparations are already being made to strengthen the side for their next campaign which will be in Division One.

Bridgnorth's second's also enjoyed a glorious day on Saturday, as both of their openers made centuries in their side's 183-run victory at Worfield.

Alex Yarnley and Andrew Carson helped Bridgnorth to a mammoth 341-3 before the hosts were dismissed for 158.

Meanwhile, Shifnal finished seventh in Birmingham League Division Two after a nine-wicket home defeat to Penkridge.

Shifnal collapsed to 51-9 before a last wicket stand of 46 between Tom Collins (31) and Alex Riley (10 not out) took them to 97 all out. Penkridge knocked off the required runs in 19 overs.
