The annual competition is held in memory of the late Mr Osborn, who was a key figure in the formation of the West Midlands junior golf section.

Three players from clubs around the West Midlands enter the competition which sees 18 holes of stroke play with the best two scores out of the three giving an aggregate total, with the lowest score taking the spoils.

Josh Rowbotham, Tom Rawlings and Alex Barnes were the historic Cleobury victors. Rowbotham led the way with a gross 77 (nett 71), putting Cleobury in a great position.

The youngster then knew if Rawlings or Barnes could shoot under their handicaps, Cleobury would have a real chance of winning.

Rawlings came to the tee and not only did he score under his handicap, he shot way under with an incredible nett 61 – the best overall nett score in the tournament – to seal success.

Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club director Dave Pain said: "This win is a fantastic result for Cleobury against some of the big hitters in the West Midlands.

"Thank-yous go to Scott Severn (junior organiser) for his inspired team selection. Josh, Alex and Tom are a credit to the club."
